Often, when we share the chiropractic story, we highlight the importance of having a healthy spine and most importantly we emphasise the importance of keeping the spine free of vertebral subluxation. You may ask why?.
Well, thanks to current scientific research we know now that a vertebra subluxation may actually interfere with the communication between the brain and the body. When that interference exists, the body may not be functioning at its optimal level, the body may not heal properly, may not adapt properly to the internal and external environment and it may even develop a dis-ease.
Going backwards in time, Hippocrates (known as the "father of the Medicine '') used to say "look well in the spine for the cause of all disease". So, you may or may not agree with me but, I believe he was right and he is still right!.
As a Chiropractor and as a Certified Gonstead Chiropractor, my job is to specifically check the spine and specifically try to localise any potential vertebral subluxation. What is important to remark here is that even though a vertebral subluxation may be causing dis-ease, a disharmony within the body, the person may still not be experiencing any symptom nor pain.
As I said before, my focus as a Gonstead chiropractor is to find that vertebral subluxation and once found it then we proceed to remove it with a specific-gently-safe manual adjustment.
This may sound to you a "simple” thing to do however, it is not “simple” as it sounds to be. Why?, because it requires knowledge and a great understanding of the anatomy, neurology, biomechanics, [physiology, etc. of the body.
When we manage to remove the vertebral subluxation we actually are clearing the pathways of communication between the brain and the body that ultimately is going to allow the body to heal, to function and to adapt better and ultimately, it may improve the overall health.
I hope by now, you got the big idea about why I was amazed with Chiropractic and Gonstead Chiropractic, a system that people of all ages can benefit from.
I hope now you have a better understanding of the Gonstead system of chiropractic and how this incredible system embraces the philosophy, the science and the art of chiropractic and the principles that make chiropractic a very distinctive- unique holistic-vitalistic health profession.
